Research for Alzheimer's Disease (NVeADRC)

In September 2020, the National Institute on Aging (NIA) at The National Institutes of Health awarded Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health $3.3 million to establish The Nevada exploratory Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (NVeADRC).

We are among the first cohort of centers nationally to receive this exploratory award and hold the distinction as the first and only NIA-funded Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center in Nevada. The NVeADRC will help meet a great need here in our state as well as in the scientific community by focusing on disparities faced by individuals with dementia in rural settings.

Clinical Trials

The Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health’s clinical trials program is among the largest in the country for Alzheimer’s disease. We have conducted more than 100 trials in Huntington’s and Parkinson’s disease, MS, Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, memory decline and normal cognition. Additionally, we offer investigator-led studies, including a study of repeated head trauma in active and retired professional fighters.

What We Treat Our Approach

Our Approach

At the Lou Ruvo Center of Brain Health, we address brain disease through two important steps:

  1. Accurate diagnosis
  2. Expert disease management

Dr. Ulep-Reed diagnoses a patient at Cleveland Clinic Nevada.

Each component — diagnosis and ongoing disease management — requires unique neurological specialization. We have carefully composed our teams to give you the greatest access to the most relevant experts at each step in the continuum of your care.

Our doctors lead the diagnostic aspect of your care; our advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners, physician assistants) lead the disease management aspect of your care. Throughout the course of your care, all members of your neurology team are in ongoing communication within their team and with colleagues across multiple disciplines, collaborating to provide world class comprehensive care for patients, families and care partners..

Care Partner Resources

Brain disease challenges families, who rise to the occasion by becoming care partners for their loved one. Patients rely heavily on their family caregivers, who often suffer tremendous stress, particularly when they lack knowledge and experience.

Appointment Process

Quality patient care is of utmost importance at Cleveland Clinic. Many of the treatment options offered by our center require multiple evaluations. Scheduling these appointments with the appropriate providers can be challenging to navigate. That is why our staff developed a comprehensive system that walks new patients through our care process from the initial phone call to the final evaluation.
