Keeping You Safe

Keeping You Safe

Our officers take a proactive approach to crime prevention. The presence of a large, visible force is an effective deterrent to crime. We utilize a number of tools and techniques to ensure the safety of everyone.

  • Download this flier to keep with you. It provides all of our services and how to contact us at all of our locations.

Active Patrols

Our Police and Security Officers provide 24-hour patrols at all hospitals, family health centers and ambulatory surgical centers, including public and private areas, parking facilities, emergency departments, and more.

Blue Lights & Emergency Intercoms

Blue light and yellow emergency intercoms are strategically placed on sidewalks and in parking areas. Calls from these intercoms are treated as 911 emergencies and can be used to detect and respond to crime.

Emergency & Safety Alerts

The Cleveland Clinic Alert Service (CCAS) is our emergency mass notification system. During a major emergency, Cleveland Clinic can alert patients, visitors and caregivers quickly, using voice, text and email messages.

Investigative Services

As part of our comprehensive law enforcement approach, Cleveland Clinic has established an effective investigations team to solve and track crimes and prevent repeat offenses.

Patients (in non-emergency situations) and visitors are required to pass through a magnetometer when entering any emergency department in the Cleveland Clinic health system. Patients arriving by ambulance will also be screened.

Security Cameras

Security camera systems are installed throughout our facilities to monitor internal and external locations, including buildings and parking facilities.

Victim Advocacy

Our Victim Advocacy Program is dedicated to providing victims of a crime with individualized, efficient and effective support, education and resources to cope with the aftermath of the incident. Services are free of charge and are available at all locations. Call 216.444.2250 for more information.

Community Policing

Community Policing

In addition to its duties serving Cleveland Clinic patients, visitors and caregivers, our Police Department plays an active role in the community. It’s our philosophy to be an active participant in community policing. We provide service opportunities for officers within the Cleveland Clinic Police Department, which encourage social responsibility and community involvement.

Whether you’re at one of our facilities, driving your car or in a public setting, there are simple things you can do to be safe.

Our Police Officers encourage everyone to follow these safety tips to stay safe no matter where you are.

  • Be aware of your surroundings. Keep your head up and scan the surrounding environment at all times. Limit the usage of smartphones and other electronic devices while walking alone.
  • Be smart when you park.Park in well-lit areas, don’t leave valuables in plain sight and always lock your vehicle. Don’t leave your vehicle running and unattended.
  • Review safety tips with your family.Anytime is a good time to review your family emergency plan and how to stay safe while out and about.
  • If you see something, say something. Reporting suspicious activity allows authorities to take appropriate measures before a crime is committed.
  • Most crimes are crimes of opportunity. Awareness and taking preventative measures are major factors in reducing these types of crimes.
